The Child Woman

Abu Mejhem entered the tent silently, and then he looked at his wife, Terfah, and said "Get Ala'noud ready".
"What for?" asked Terfah.
"To leave to her husband's house. She was chosen to be (Ghoret Almadda) answered Abu Mejhem.
"But she is still a child; she isn't thirteen yet" said Terfah.
Abu Mejhem stared at her fiercely,… so she stopped and kept silent.
A hot tear flew on her cheek when she saw her little daughter playing with the children in front of the tent.
Mansour was a member of Abu Mejhem's tribe. He killed a man from another tribe, so the tribal court obliged Abu Mejhem's tribe to pay the killed man's tribe a number of goats, camels, and a young bride for the Sheikh of the killed man's tribe. Anoud was that bride.
  Terfah was singing sad lyrics
"Oh, my poor little child. What did you do, that made you leave your tribe, your father's tent and your little friends."
She was at the same time packing her daughter's clothes in a package. Her tears were flowing on her cheeks. She was watching her child once, and hugging and kissing her clothes another. She hailed Alanoud. When she approached, Terfah seated her on her lap. Her sad singing and crying raised.
Abu Mejhem entered the tent and led the girl by hand and delivered her to her new family.
Anoud didn't understand what was going on. She traveled away from her tribe. After a long day journey, she arrived to her tent in the new tribe. She was shocked to see a tall, broad shouldered man with flocks of hair dangling under his head scarf (koufiah).
Two or three hours later, Anoud became the fourth wife of Sheikh Juai'd. But she was the inferior one, because she was (Ghoret Almadda).

1-                      (Ghoret Almadda) is a Bedouin term for a woman who is sometimes given upon the demand of the tribe members from which a man is killed, as a part of compensation. When this happens, it is meant to cause more humiliation to the tribe of the killer. The term is especially used to indicate to any woman being abused by her husband.
2-                      The story is based upon real events that used to happen in the past. This may still happen until now, but not in public.

Living Crutches

To my life friend Ali, “The Crutches Poet”

Tow trees in two distant forests in Gilead Mountains giving shade for people and safe haven for birds. A man slashes the first branch from an oak tree and the second from an olive tree. They were abandoned for months, dyeing out before a carpenter took them and turned them into crutches for a young boy.
“Try them and be careful my sweet heart, they will help you going to school instead of the wheelchair” said his mother. He was a young poet who writes love poems for all people in this world, a world he dreams to explore and establish friendship and love with. He didn’t have a bed to sleep on, so the first night he laid them on the floor next to his mattress saying: “promise not to let me down and I will make you my friends”. A week later he painted them greenish just like their living color and wrote on them “Let us share love and we will make a change in this world “.
They carried him ups and downs for years, they accompanied him to poetry evenings, listening to his romantic poetry and his sad story since he became crippled at the age of five. He kept talking to them and in one evening in his room, he gladly read a poem for them naming it “My Friends Forever”. The crutches felt his happiness when they carried his strong slim body during his first visit to Liverpool, where he met his one day friend Mark.  They felt his worm tears dropping on them when his mother passed away. They also felt injured when he bought a car and put them in the back seat.
The dreamer poet still watches his crutches every morning believes to see them giving oak and olive buds that will become branches one day.

The shiny piaster

Short story

Perhaps it fell from someone, or someone threw it, any way, it was the most beautiful piaster he ever saw in his life, he save no effort in running to the nearest shop: "give me a balloon"
- a beautiful balloon.
First puff:
It is only balloon. A kid's balloon. But I am older than a kid. That's what my dad said to me when I climbed the palm tree and I almost picked up a star.
Second puff:
I want it to be a big balloon. I will pick up the first star I find and throw it to my dad. He will know it is from me. He will trade it for a balloon and come to me. We will throw stars to my mother, brother sister, and my friend, Omar,
Third puff:
I will hang the moon on the past time; I won’t let people spill their ideas in it as they always did. I will collect all stars. And put them in a black bag. They won’t be guided by them unless they find a piaster like mine. But they won’t find. It was a piaster that shined like gold.
Fourth puff
Bommmm…the balloon burst.
